Dr. Cohn was born in San Antonio, Texas July 4, 1969. He developed a love for the Hill Country spending weekends and summers on his family's land near Kerrville. He attended The University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the pre-medical honor society, Alpha Epsilon Delta. He graduated from UT in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and then went on to medical school at The University of Texas at Houston, graduating in 1996 near the top of his class. Dr. Cohn interned in general surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and went on to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery there. During that time, Dr.Cohn earned the respect of his peers and faculty and was given the Outstanding Resident of the Year Award for two consecutive years for excellent surgical skills as well as high scores on In-Training Orthopaedic Surgery Board Exam.
In addition to clinical training, Dr. Cohn was actively involved in research and has made multiple presentations at regional, national, and international Orthopaedic Surgery Conferences and has had several papers published in multiple orthopaedic journals.

While in residency, Dr. Cohn trained in orthopaedics at several hospitals in the Houston Medical Center and was fortunate to work with physicians who treated the athletes of the Houston Texans, Astros, and Rockets, as well as the performers in the Houston Ballet. During this time he was able to focus both conservative and surgical management of the high demand athlete. After his residency, Dr. Cohn took and passed his written Board examination in General Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Cohn continues to research minimally invasive surgery techniques and computer navigation technology. Each year, he receives further training in the most up-to-date techniques in shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle surgery.

Dr. Cohn is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Southern Orthopaedic Association, the Western Orthopaedic Association, and the Texas Orthopaedic Association.
